A draft OSHA Compliant Safety Data Sheet

Formulated Products

During the WERCSmart registration process, information about ingredients (e.g., water, ethanol, phosphoric acid) are collected.

Articles

According to OSHA regulation 1910.1200, an article is “a manufactured item other than a fluid or particle: (i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii) which has end-use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end-use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g., minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical (as determined under paragraph (d) of this section), and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees.”

Common examples include:

  • Light bulbs – that do not contain any hazardous component or ingredient. Hazardous components could be mercury, as an example.
  • Electronics – Circuit-board products without a battery.
  • Copper wire only – Product likely contains an electrical plug. Does not sell with a battery and does not have a circuit board.
  • Kits & gift packs – 2+ unrelated products (Formulated, Enhanced Article or Article) combined in a package, using a single UPC for the unrelated products.

Enhanced Articles

Beverage registrations or products that include a lithium battery when sold to the consumer (lithium ion or lithium metal) are considered Enhanced Articles for the purpose of WERCSmart registration.

FAQ

1. What subscription tier (i.e., product number range) should I select?

You should select your tier based on the minimum estimation of registrations you’ll make for each type of product. You can always expand your tier upward. There are restrictions on reducing your subscription. Be sure not to overestimate your possible registrations.

2. Can I increase the number of products included in my plan, or upgrade my tier selection, in the midst of my annual subscription enrollment?

Yes! You always have the opportunity to increase your tiers. You will receive a pro-rated statement once you upgrade and payment is made using your default payment method on file. You can only decrease your tier or plan upon the annual renewal date.

3. How do I pay my subscription?

We accept credit card, ACH, PayPal® or Wire Transfer. Depending on your chosen plan or tier, payments may be made monthly, quarterly or annually.

4. Can I have multiple payment methods on file?

Yes! One payment method will need to be your default payment method and is used for automated payment of your subscription.

5. Do you accept checks for payment?

Not at this time. If you are looking for a check option, you could select Wire Transfer as your payment. This will provide you an invoice and wire transfer instruction. Be aware, this payment method experiences a delay and won’t permit you to submit registrations until the wire transfer funds are received by our accounting department. Domestic wire transfers typically are resolved in just a couple of days. International wire transfers may take 5-10 days to reach our accounting department.
